The average manicure lasts about a week—and that’s pushing it. I can hardly get from salon to driveway without a chip, dent, or smudge. Which is why I rarely get them. But there’s a new manicure in town called Shellac, and it’s life-changing—like self-tanner or Bobbi Brown Color Corrector. Shellac lasts at least fourteen days and looks pristine THE ENTIRE TIME. I am not exaggerating. I’ve had a half-dozen Shellac manis with nary a nick in sight. The secret to this high-tech nail system is twofold. First, a gel polish from cult favorite Creative Nail Design, which comes in loads of pretty shades. Second, this high-tech nail system has a UV3 light that cures each layer of lacquer, leaving it completely dry in seconds and smooth and flawless no matter how hard you are on your nails. I’ve concluded that Shellac is ideal for two types of people: those who get regular manicures and will appreciate making fewer trips to the salon, and those who only get manicures for special occasions because they never last (that’s me!). Either way, once you try Shellac, you never go back. Ha!
