Drugstore Deals

As much as I love shopping at Sephora, ULTA, and pretty much every other makeup counter you can think of, I also have a serious obsession with drugstore products. I don’t think I’ve ever run in to pick up a prescription or stock up on paper towels without taking a detour to the makeup aisles. I just can’t help myself! My favorite drugstore products make up a constantly changing list, but here are some current favorites I highly suggest you check out the next time you head to your local store. EOS Lip Balm Spheres: EOS stands for Evolution of Smooth, and it’s definitely a brand to keep your eye on. They’ve just come out with new hand and body lotions, but I’m obsessed with their Lip Balm Spheres. They’re available in a variety of scents, all of which are fabulous, but my favorites are Sweet Mint and Lemon Drop. (Lemon Drop is perfect for the summer because it comes with an SPF 15 in it). I love the packaging—the top of the “ball” twists off and locks into place, so it won’t ever come off in your purse and get all over the place. Genius! The only drawback is that its shape means that you can’t easily slip it into your pocket; but for $3.49, I can definitely overlook that.
St. Ives Oatmeal & Shea Butter Advanced Body Moisturizer: My skin gets really dry when the weather heats up here in Los Angeles, so I’m always on the lookout for good body moisturizers. I’ve found some great pricey ones, but when you’re using it once or twice a day on your entire body, expensive bottles disappear awfully fast, and that can get very annoying. This St. Ives cream is everything you could want in a moisturizer—it’s thick without being greasy, it lasts a long time after you put it on, and it has a soothing clean scent that won’t compete with your perfume. It leaves my skin feeling so soft, and I absolutely love the price tag of less than $5 for eighteen ounces (at my local drugstore). A repeat purchase will definitely happen when my current bottle runs out.
Almay Intense i-Color Smoky-I Kit: I stumbled upon a display of these new shadow palettes, and since they were on sale, I decided to grab the one for green eyes. I wasn’t sure what to expect since I don’t use a lot of Almay products, but I really liked it. The colors are pigmented, apply well, and blend easily; plus the palettes come with a little diagram on the back of the package that shows you how to best use the shades for the desired smoky effect. I even went back and bought the one for blue eyes, just because I liked the shades in it (and the sale was still going on). But don’t worry—even at regular price, the palettes are only around $7.49 each, so they’re totally budget friendly. Love that!
