China Glaze Awakening Collection 2010: Halloween at Your Fingertips

Posted By on September 2, 2010

For nail polish fanatics, who doesn’t love a good reason to wear seasonal or holiday themed nail polish? As the first half of the year reaches to an end, the door to where a slew of holidays quickly approach brings in  new nail lacquer collections with holiday themes. First comes Halloween, and with it China Glaze has come out with a few of their seasonal themed nail polish colors.

The Awakening Collection consists of these three shades: “Mummy May I” (a deep black base with bold royal purple glitter), “Ick-A-Bod-Y” (a dark forest green base with pumpkin orange glitter), and “Zombie Zest” (a vibrant mossy green with corresponding green and off golden glitter). What is great about these is that they chock full of glitter so, not enough shine and glitz is not an issue here. My favorite out of the bunch is “Ick-A-Bod-Y”. It is probably the most diverse out of the lot and different from most orange based nail polish shades available in the market today. Because it has a darker base and with bright orange flecks accenting the surface, this color steers from the normal bold orange glitter and crème shades that have corresponding orange bases. Since these shades do have loads of glitter in them, the application can be a bit choppy so you might want to apply a finishing touch of clear top coat on top of these to make the overall appearance and feel a bit smoother.

China Glaze nail polish products are available in special beauty supply stores such as Sally Beauty Supply and ULTA, and also with online beauty product retailers. Each China Glaze nail polish usually retails for about six to seven dollars each which is still cheaper than other popular salon brands such as Orly, OPI, Piggy Polish, and Essie. Since this is considered a seasonal item or collection, these colors will sure to be only available for a limited time, so make sure you grab one or a few while you can. Although these colors are geared toward Halloween, they are still fun and versatile enough to try on year round.
