So, you have stumbled into the world of BPAL and feel a bit like Alice in Wonderland. We have all been on that wild ride. The best advice I can give is that you make sure you pull down the bar, sit back and enjoy the  olfactory roller coaster ride. I admit discovering BPAL isnt a walk in the park. Instead its a battlefield of scents vying for your soul. Because for every winner scent you find, there will be a handful of scents that just dont work with your skin chemistry or even your nose. So, today I am taking a moment and creating a beginners guide to the various scent types. That way, if you have found one vein of scents you love, this might point you to the next stop on your olfactory adventure. Todays scent challenge will take us to the sphere of the “foody” or gourmand scents. To prevent you from ending up with a curiosity that might kill the cat, I have chosen three diverse gourmand scents to discuss. One is a general catalogue (GC) scent, one a limited edition (LE) and the final one an event exclusive scent. Our three scents we will be examining today will be Cockaigne, Huesos de Santo and Bedbug. I. Cockaigne (GC Catalogue) Scent Description: “Cockaigne: The Land of Plenty, also called Luilekkerland – the Lazy, Luscious Land: milk and honey, sweet cakes and wine.”First, we open the bottle for a sniff. The scent is very sweet and almost milky. Not a clear picture of things to come but the promise of baked goods and creaminess.Next, the scent is applied. Amazing! On my skin, it is buttery cookies and milk. The scent is sweet and sugary like a fresh baked cookie but has an almost caramel swirl teasing my nose. I suspect this might be the honey come to play. The creaminess smoothes out the scent but isnt overwhelming. Definitely smelling cookies, but there is a sensation of cake in this. I am afraid the wine doesnt arrive on the scene as this dries but that doesnt take away from this sweet scent. Lovely scent, and makes people think you have been making sweet treats in the kitchen.II. Huesos de Santo (LE scent from Halloween 2009 and 2010)
