All Hail…The Hairdresser! Introducing Sir Frédéric Fekkai
Posted By Stephanie Tripp on December 3, 2010
Last night in New York City, hairstylist Frédéric Fekkai was out celebrating his recent appointment as—oh, you know—a knight! Specifically, a Knight of France’s National Order of Merit. The merit, which has been in existence since 1963, is awarded by the president of the French Republic to French nationals for distinguished civil achievements. After nearly three decades of keeping celebrities, models, and Hillary Clinton perfectly coiffed, Fekkai is now part of a very small club of hairstylists upon whom knighthood has been bestowed (in 2009, Vidal Sassoon was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in England). So, Sir Fekkai, we raise our cans of hair spray to you and, in the spirit of this honor, give a big thanks for our favorite products that you’ve created:
. “After using these two together, I actually do feel like my waves have been slightly enhanced and defined. Which is a nice feat for something that happens in the shower.” —Amy Keller Laird, deputy editor/beauty director
“I spray this on my stick-straight hair when it’s dry to give it a boost of volume and that roughed-up, bed-head effect.” —Angelique Serrano, beauty editor
“I tend to try and stretch out my salon blowouts as long as possible by skipping a few days of shampooing, so when I do clean up my dirty strands I use this. It really removes all the gunk and product buildup, and leaves my hair looking and feeling healthy.” —Heather Muir, beauty news editor
“Okay, so the $95 price tag is pushing it, but the volume this cream delivers is incredible. My hair usually falls flat the minute I walk out the door, but if I use this before I blow-dry, I end up with allover body, and my strands actually feel thicker.” —Sophia Panych, editorial assistant
“This is absolutely amazing on my naturally curly hair. It gives me those matte, beachy waves without any crunch; and the scent reminds me of a summer sea breeze.” —Alison Caporimo, contributing assistant
